Double-sided for twice the usage, the mats can be applied onto virtually any engraving tabletop, to create a stable surface for practically any engraving material. They work great with brass, aluminum, acrylic, phenolic – you name it!

Though your chosen stock won’t move from side to side while engraving, you can easily lift it when done. RELEASABLE ADHESIVE HOLD-DOWN MAT SECURES LARGER SIGNS
This economical, double-sided, long-lasting multi-mat is a traditional favorite, especially for securing larger signs. Use one of these 11¼” x 8” mats if that’s your maximum sign size. For bigger jobs, simply place two adjacently to cover the entire 11 ¼” x 16” bed. If one eventually becomes worn, just turn over that single mat and keep on engraving. Here are some useful questions and answers, regarding our popular hold-down mats:
How is the mat affixed to the engraving table top?
The mat is simply placed into position where its unique, yet natural holding properties go into action. No double-stick tape, vacuums or clamps are necessary. In fact, no other hold-down system is so fast and easy to use. As a bonus, the mat is double-sided, so that if one side gets worn in places, you can merely turn it over or even rotate it.
How long will my mat last?
The mat's life span depends on factors such as type of usage, as well as proper cleaning and handling. But the average user can expect many months of performance. Because the mat is double-sided, you can conceivably use it twice as long as a traditional mat.
What if I engrave through the engraving material, into the mat?
Our mats have a self-healing feature. Small cuts in the surface should not cause a problem. Of course, the accumulation of cuts for a prolonged period may degrade the mat's effectiveness over time. The GripNGraver nanotac mat is 0.121" thick; the traditional releasable adhesive mat is 0.114" thick.
How do I clean my hold-down mat?
The cleaning process is simple and easy, without the need for any chemicals. Merely use a soft sponge or cloth and running water to remove chips, dust or dirt. Then let the mat air dry.
The mat seems a bit expensive - how can I justify paying that?
The extra cost is actually quite minimal, and remember that this is not really a consumable item like double-stick tape or the cost of labor in attaching the tape, removing it, etc. Also, because the mat is double-sided, you get twice the usage as you might get with other similar products.
Just follow these brief instructions on how to attach your Scott hold-down mat to your engraving machine.
1 Align the mat on the engraver bed. It can be easily repositioned, if
necessary.
2 Place your material on the mat. Setting it on the mat lightly is enough
to keep it secure.
3 That’s it! You are ready to engrave. When you finish, simply peel the
material off the mat. The mat itself is also removable, for easy cleaning
with water and a damp cloth.
